We are resurrecting The Mystery Restaurant Tour as The Paleo Restaurant Tour.
Once a month we will pick a new restaurant to go to. We’ll set a date and make a reservation. Then, you come out for a meal with us. We will likely see lots of familiar faces, but it’s also a great chance to come out and meet some new people that have similar interests: Primal Living, Paleo Diet, Ancestral Physical Education. Did somebody say community?
But what makes this The Paleo Restaurant Tour?
Well, lets explain the paleo diet first. The idea of the paleo diet is that we should eat the foods that we first ate when we evolved into homo Sapiens. It’s a simple idea, use evolution as a guiding principle in nutrition. Foods that raise flags are grains (gluten in particular), dairy and legumes. These foods are new to us, on an evolutionary timeline, and there are some studies showing they can cause problems with your health. Some people say you should not eat these at all, some people will say that certain types are alright. One thing is for sure, if you eat a paleo diet, you will have an opinion on these foods.

So, the plan is to pick places that you can find some decent grub, even if you are the strictest paleo eater in Victoria.
Afterwards you can rate the restaurant here or on the Victoria APE facebook page, and I’ll compile peoples thoughts and write a review. We will rate based on how your food tasted and the overall impression that you get from the place. We will make note of how many dishes are gluten free, grain free, dairy free, and legume free (and if any dishes are free of all those foods.)
The first one is a special holiday treat. Chocolate is a paleo friendly snack, but you have to find real chocolate, not the sugar filled stuff in the convenience store. Well, Cook Culture does a free chocolate tasting once a month and they have a fantastic selection of high quality real chocolates.
Where: Cook Culture 1317 Blanshard St. Victoria, BC (in the Atrium building).
When: Sat Dec 15th, 2012 at 12:30pm.
Who: Everyone is welcome, no need to tell us if you’re coming.
What: Chocolate tasting.
Price Range: FREE
You can actually come anytime between 11am to 2pm, but we will be there at 12:30 if you want to catch up, or meet for the first time.
For January we will pick a place that you can get a meal at. If you have any places that you love, let us know and we will add them to our list.
